Let’s take a look at the history of musical theatre timeline: 2.500 years ago, the musical theatre began in ancient Greece. It staged tragedy and comedy that included music and dance in open-air amphitheaters. In the Roman history, however, musical theatre showed comedy combined song and dance which performed with orchestra music. The first opera, DAFNE, was written in 1597 AD by Italian Jacopo Peri. Dafne has asserted that the Greek Chorus individuals would not recite, yet sing their parts. In 1866, The Black Crook by Charles M. Barras was regarded as the first musical. It is set in 1600 in the Harz Mountains of Germany. Anything Goes made a new history of women in the theatre industry, in which the first woman appeared by Ether Merman in 1934.

Walt Disney started to take a part of this industry by producing Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in 1937. In 1970, it became the golden age of musicals in America. In 1999 film and television started to produce many drama musicals, such as Academy Award winning Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, Glee, and High Musicals.

It’s hard not to talk about Broadway if we are discussing drama musicals, right? Everyone knows that Broadway is the center of drama musicals.

Dear Evan Hansen Musical Poster

One is Dear Evan Hensen. The story of a young man with social anxiety who so longs to make an association with his companions that he creates a relationship with a perished understudy to turn out to be nearer to the boy's family. At the point when his classmate commits suicide, bashful Evan Hansen winds up at the focal point of the catastrophe and disturbance. Eventually, Evan is compelled to settle on a choice: Will he give himself over to the dream he's made, or will he do what needs to be done and hazard losing everything he's at any point needed? The song and lyrics were arranged by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The musical got an award as the best musical 2017 in Tony Award.

Mean Girls Musical Poster

Another musical is Mean Girls (I know you all know ‘Mean Girls’ as a film, yet the musical version is worth watching too!). Janis Sarkisian and Damian Hubbard invite the crowd to their "Cautionary Tale": Cady Heron is the new girl at North Shore High School in Chicago, urgent to fit in and discover companions. Janis and Damian become friends with the new girl, and when The Plastics put their focus on Cady, Janis persuades innocent Cady to be their "friend" so as to cut down Queen Bee Regina George's rule. As a result, Cady loses herself, her companions, and her pulverize, just for the opportunity to be well known and cherished. When deposed Regina seeks retribution by discharging the Burn Book, Cady is cut down and should repair her messed up associations with Janis, Aaron, and even Regina. With dynamic melodies for youthful entertainers, Mean Girls is a hymn to fellowship, faithfulness, girl power, and being consistent with yourself.

Waitress Musical Poster

The other is Waitress. It follows the story of Jenna, a lady who is pregnant with no longing to be, caught in an oppressive relationship in a small town with no desire for a future outside of dread and false positivity. She escapes from her trauma through the baking. She sells her products at Joe's Pie Diner, where she's additionally a waitress, and this activity and the companions she has there exist as her solitary world outside her husband. The two different waitress at the cafe, Becky and Dawn, are Jenna's closest companions and nearest comrades, ladies with their own subtleties and eccentricities, yet like Jenna, holding dreams of preferable love over they've seen and carries on with that aren't so protected and full of drudgery.

Despite all of the stories, the last two titles come to give a spirit to all women out there. However, Dear Evan Hansen got big attention due to its concerns about mental health, we think!

Thank you for staying until the last. Hope you stay healthy and don't forget to put your mask on!
