English Department of the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Airlangga, has succeeded in producing outstanding students. This time the achievement comes from the non-academic field and is brought by 2021 class student: M. Daffa Hibatullah. He won 1st place in the Pencak Silat Championship at Male College in the Indonesia Paku Bumi Open 11th International Championship 2023.

The international competition was held in Bandung, specifically at the ITB Jatinangor Sports Hall. Approximately three international organizations participated in the competition, including the Singapore Silat Federation, Silat USA, and Senegal Martial Arts, with participants of various ages ranging from teenagers to adults.

Previously, Daffa experienced several challenges in participating in this competition, one of which was an injury to his middle finger due to being kicked during sparring, and the wound was still felt on the D-day of the match. But he still gave his best to face this competition.

"Of course, I add to my training schedule to prepare for the competition. Almost every day, I practice at the Student Center Campus C. Apart from that, I also practice myself at home with a rubber tire tied to a pole. It is no less important that I drink Vitamin C to keep my body healthy,"  he said.

Previously he had participated in the selection for the Provincial Sports Week but did not qualify, and several championships, such as the Pakubumi International Championship and the Banten International Championship. He revealed that he did not expect to win 1st place. It was clear that he had exerted his best abilities.

"I also hope to continue to excel in other pencak silat championships and to become an outstanding student because I believe that the key to success is enthusiasm and consistency in carrying out activities." Close sure.

This success also supports FIB UNAIR in realizing SDG's point 4, namely Quality Education.
