EDSA has finally completed another program, a comparative study, which was held on 9 and 10 September 2017. It was conducted in order to share knowledge with other English student organizations from other universities. The first destination was Universitas Brawijaya. We had such a warm welcome from the host. The event started with the opening speech from the Chief of ESA and the Chief of EDSA. It was followed by a musical performance of three students from English Department Universitas Brawijaya. Then, we began to introduce our organizations. We did not only introduce who we are, but also what we do, what we have, what we know, and all that we can share to them. Then, we separated randomly to make have group discussions. It aims to share our experiences more intensely. Moreover, it made us gain more knowledge from different divisions in our organizations. Our visit to ESA ended with a fun photo session.
The other destination was Universitas
Negeri Malang. Again, we received a warm welcome from the host. It was not
significantly different from our previous visit that day, and we did the same thing
as before. Yet, it was quite different when we had the forum group discussions.
We formed groups based on our divisions. The aim was to make it easier for us
to share the problems of our division and find the solution together, since the
concern of everyone in the group is the same. We learned a lot from both places
that we visited.
At the end of the day, we went to a
villa to make evaluations from what we gained from both places. We selected
some of the programs and ideas we learned from ESA and Legato which would be
beneficial for EDSA. However, adopting those ideas would have to be adapted to
our principles, situations, and conditions. The evaluation of our visits was
not the end of our trip, for we conducted mid-period evaluation. We discussed
about our on-going programs. More specifically, about the weaknesses, strengths,
problems and also the solutions.
